Thermal imaging has never been so affordable – introducing the FLIR TG165 Imaging IR Thermometer, an instrument that combines together the functionality of an infrared (IR) thermometer with the capabilities of  thermal imaging technology!

Equipped with FLIR’s exclusive Lepton micro thermal camera, the TG165 includes all of the functionality you’ll need to spot heat patterns, reliably measure temperature with a high degree of accuracy and even includes the ability to store images and data.

This unit is suitable for use in detecting traces of fever – including the Ebola virus – in passengers arriving on flights and is suited for scanning arrivals at airports. It is also suited for use by medical professionals out in the field as an Ebola thermal scanner to prevent contact when testing patients.

Image Resolution and Measurement Ranges

The technology that powers the TG165 – FLIR’s unique Lepton core – is one of the smallest and cheapest-to-construct detectors ever created. This new technology is integrated into the TG165, giving it a lower cost and helping to improve the quality of thermal images.

This imaging IR thermometer has image resolution of 80 x 60 pixels, thermal sensitivity of <150mK and includes FLIR’s unique See the Heat mode which clearly outlines temperature hotspots, saving time and effort analysing captured images.

As mentioned previously, this instrument also includes the functionality of an IR thermometer. It can measure temperature levels across a large range of -25 to 380°C (14 to 716°F) with basic accuracy of ±1.5% or 1.5°C, has distance-to-spot ratio of 24:1, fast response time of 150 milliseconds, and includes dual diverging lasers for lining up the measurement point with high levels of precision.

Intuitive Design

Just like FLIR’s thermal cameras, the TG165 is a pistol-shaped instrument designed for comfortable, ergonomic grip. It’s also slightly smaller than thermal cameras and can comfortably fit in a pocket when not in use.

An 8GB SD card is included as standard with the imaging IR thermometer and this can store up to 75000 pictures with temperature and emissivity data. Alternatively you can use other SD cards up to 32Gb in size (sold separately) to expand the abilities of the camera even further!

The camera’s main screen is a full-colour 2.0″ TFT screen with display resolution of 38, 720 pixels (176 x 220px). A ¼” tripod mount is also attached to the bottom of the imager to attach directly to a tripod for more control over measurement precision.

Better yet, this imaging IR thermometer is also designed to be used in demanding applications and has been drop tested to a height of 2 metres (6.5 feet) and will continue working even if the worst happens.
