Formaldehyde is an organic chemical that is very common in our environment. It is a colorless gas with a pungent odor from the family of gases called aldehydes. Commonly known as a preservative in medical laboratories and morgues, formaldehyde is also found in other products such as chemicals, particleboard, household products, glues, permanent press cloths, paper product coatings, fiberboard, and plywood. It is also widely used as an industrial fungicide, disinfectant, and disinfectant.
