The parallel light beam from the LED light source is greatly attenuated by turbidity substances and reaches the transmitted light receiving section. Meanwhile, the receiving section, which is arranged at 90° to the light source, simultaneously measures the amount of scattered light generated in proportion to the turbidity substances, allowing accurate measurement of turbidity from low to high concentrations.
In addition, while the conventional measurement unit of turbidity has been expressed in kaolin turbidity or formazin turbidity, this device uses polystyrene turbidity (degrees) as the standard in response to the amendment of the Water Supply Act Water Quality Standards Ministerial Ordinance (Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare Ordinance No. 101). Furthermore, this device can measure trace turbidity with high sensitivity using a transmitted scattered light measurement method that complies with the drinking water test method and industrial water test method (K0101).
