Light from an LED light source is projected into the sample water, generating scattered light proportional to the concentration of SS/turbidity substances. Meanwhile, a current signal proportional to the scattered light is generated from the light receiving element positioned at 90° to the angle of the light source, and the turbidity value is directly displayed in mg/L units on the display via a converter.
In principle, the transmitted light method is affected by color, but in principle, the 90° scattered light measurement method generates scattered light only from suspended solids and turbidity substances in proportion to their concentration. Furthermore, this high-performance turbidity detector is less affected by external light, with a near-infrared AC lighting system and a visible light cut filter.
